Just last year I was diagnosed with PTSD – twenty years after the actual trauma. I hadn’t realized my issues were clinical and treatable until then – too bad I didn’t seek help from an actual psychiatrist sooner.
What Gaming Means To Me
Getting into a flow state with a game is a great analgesic. You forget your troubles and your pain. Gaming isn’t something we should do so much that we’re avoiding our problems or our feelings, but as a temporary measure here or there it’s great.
I’m a psychiatry doctor and passionate gamer. I run a resource called prescriptionpixel.com – an interface between video games and mental health.
This is a space for gamers to safely share their feelings, access personalised resources, and seek help without judgement or stigma.
