I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety and when I was in junior high. I have a strong family history of both. I’ve been placed in an outpatient hospital mental health program twice for suicidal ideation/self-harm, both times when I was in high school. My depression and anxiety are still issues I struggle with daily, but are under control to the degree that I can hold down a job, maintain friendships, and generally function well on a day to day basis, although my anxiety still robs me of opportunities and experiences from time to time. I am taking Klonopin for anxiety, and no other medication, but I have been on a variety of SSRIs in the past for depression.

What Games Mean To Me

In the case of single player experiences like Final Fantasy and Persona, the stories resonated strongly with me and helped me to both acknowledge issues I was facing and helped me to work through them. For Street Fighter, the social aspect of playing with strangers in arcades helped me to deal with anxiety.
